Hi and welcome!

 

My name is Jan James and I’m a Transformational Coach and NLP Master Practitioner. I use a combination of therapy types to incorporate healing on every layer of your being; mind, body and spirit.

You are unique and the work we do together is specifically tailored to you and what you need. Always with compassion, warmth and lightheartedness and in a friendly, safe space.

I’ve always had a fascination for how I worked, for how other people work and a curiosity regarding life and what it was all about.

Therapists become therapists for a reason ya know and in my case it has been a life long quest for self-healing. An attempt to resolve the painful, stressful, anxious and depressed feelings I was experiencing.

 

I have little interest in the past but feel that a little ‘before and after’ will give you a better idea of who I am and what I’m about.

 

I’ve created many dysfunctional and painful relationships, dealt with the rejection from my whole family, brought two children up on my own and experienced mental illness in a close family member. I’m an introvert and sensitive and I fell into depression for many years.

The ego mind loves to create drama and problems and I was just like many others, judging, criticising, being an emotional car crash and not knowing how to deal with life.

Now, I have become an empowered creator of my life and my own emotional state, no longer at the mercy of anyone or anything for my balance and peace.

If I can do this, then so can you.

I love the deeper things in life, nothing major, just the meaning of life and why is there a Universe? Just my normal type of contemplations.

 

I’m happily married (and I didn’t think that was possible once) and my knowledge of the workings of relationships didn’t come from a book! My sons are adults now and I have learnt to stop referring to them and treating them as ‘the kids’.

Most important for you to know is that I’ve done the work on myself. Any therapist can only work with you to the level that they have worked on themselves.

This all gives me a unique edge in the help that I provide. I have not only learnt the technical stuff, the educational bit, I’ve got the experience. I’ve been there and done it myself. I know what works and what doesn’t.

I’m highly empathic so this automatically creates a safe haven for you, where you can explore and resolve the things that you are struggling with. It’s my job to make sure that you are at ease and gaining the best possible outcomes. I take pride in doing this.

There’s been this view of therapy; that it’s a long and drawn out process, painful and uncomfortable. This is now out-dated.  I don’t believe this. My approach is solution focused, to get you where you want to be in a short a time as possible.

Yes, the past needs to be looked at sometimes, to gain understanding maybe, but I always say we only need to glance back, not stare.

 

I spent many years of spiritual searching and understanding and during this time trawled through a library of self-help books and teachings. They didn’t work for me.

It was only much later that I discovered that concentrating on a problem actually keeps it in place. Believing you’re broken and need to be fixed is the problem.

I moved on from this phase to the years of psychology searching and learning. I also have qualifications in the field of energy work; Reiki, Chakra Rebalancing, Meditation and Tai Chi.

What is NLP?

 

NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, provides practical ways in which you can change the way that you think, view past events and approach to your life. It shows you how to take control of your life.

You may not be able to control much in your life but you can always take control of what goes on in your head.

I have psychotherapy, counselling and hypnotherapy skills and a multitude of course qualifications to ensure continued development. It’s a hobby!

Does it work?

 

What you really want to know is, does it work? The answer is yes. I can say this with certainty as I have done it myself. Having overcome anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and trauma, yes it does.
